HWENU, which means “time” in Fon, is the name we gave to this project. The first sketches were made five years ago. It is a multi-family residence. The main idea of the concept is to maximize cross ventilation and natural lighting in all rooms, adapted to the hot tropical climate of Cotonou. The one-coat earthen plaster helps the building blend into the neighborhood environment. This choice was made both for thermal insulation and to help the building keep its charm over time, despite the dust from passing cars or the wind.
